Specification of Sodium Hypochlorite NaOCl Liquid Chlorine 12%
Sodium Hypochlorite NaOCl Liquid Chlorine 12%
Sodium
hypochlorite has a characteristic slightly yellowish white color with a
characteristic odor and a slight pungent odor. Included in the group of
oxygenated halogens, are active substances which when dissolved in water will
release chloride ions which are effective for purification, deodorizing,
bleaching and disinfecting processes.
Caustic
soda contained in sodium hypochlorite causes the pH in the water to increase.
When sodium hypochlorite has dissolved in water, two substances will be formed,
namely hypochlorite ions and hypochlorous acid. Then hypochlorous acid can be
degraded to form hydrochloric acid and oxygen. Oxygen is a strong oxidizing
agent, so sodium hypochlorite is commonly used to kill fungi, viruses and
bacteria.
