Mechanical Seal CNP Pump All Type
One of the important components of a centrifugal pump is a mechanical seal. The mechanical seal or M Seal is a component part of the pump that has the function of preventing the entry and exit of fluid or lubricant. Seal is an indispensable part in achieving reliability in the operation of a pump. Seals can be grouped into 2 types, namely,
1. Dynamic Seal, dynamic seal is a seal in which there are surface parts that move relative to each other. Dynamic seals are usually used on rotating shafts in centrifugal pumps. Those that have rotation are generally made of soft material. Has a combination of carbon with silicon carbide.
2. Static Seal, Static steal is a seal which does not have a movement that has occurred or the meeting of two surfaces that have been sealed. Examples such as O-rings and gaskets.
The main part in the blocking process is carried out by two sealfaces which have a fairly smooth and even surface. The friction that occurs in both minimizes the occurrence of a leak. One sealface rotates to follow the rotation of the shaft, and the other sealface only stays on the wall which is commonly called the glandplate. In choosing the type of mechanic seal, it has an important influence on the performance of a centrifugal pump and is important for the success of using the pump. To get the reliability of a pump, the type of seal used must be in accordance with the environment.
The causes and factors that generally occur in the mechanical seal of the pump leak are:
- The surface on the seal has a slight roughness
- Too fast in the round process
- Shaft diameter
