The HI839800 COD Test Tube Heater has two predefined temperature profiles of 150˚C and 105˚C. Digestion for chemical oxygen (COD) and total phosphorus was carried out at 150˚C, while total nitrogen digestion was carried out at 105˚C. The test tube heater automatically heats up to the set temperature, holding it in place until the countdown timer finishes. After the timer expires, a beep will sound and the heating element will turn off. The HI839800's outer shell stays cool to the touch, even during digestion. The optional lab shiel and test tube cooling rack provide complete setup for sample digestion.
The HI839800 has two operating modes: idle and warm-up. Idle mode is the default mode in which the heater measures and displays the current temperature, target temperature, set reaction time and the "idle" tag. The heating mode is activated when the user presses the START button; it starts when the warm-up is on and continues during the countdown timer.
The block temperature is continuously displayed on the easy-to-read LCD screen, even when no active temperature program is running. All relevant information other than temperature is easily visible during idle and warm-up modes.
On-screen messages warning of problems including high or low temperatures, hot surfaces, or heating system failure.
